WHAT CAN WE SAY AFTER SUCH A GOOD GIG!?

A thousand cars were flowing into Rock Village this year, bringing in the fans of our little village and atmosphere which is a trade mark of the Rock Village. It is hard to say what attracted them most – whether they left with better impressions from the kids of Santos Brothers Band who opened the festival, or Ritam Nereda with one of their greatest performances, Riblja Čorba who played superbly for two and a half hours or from Saturday night fever set into motion by Sheitans, BandX who had fantastic interpretations of AC/DC hits, followed by hard core band from Italy Fitzsimmons and Alogija, always exquisite Irina & Storm, to the stars of the evening Van Gogh.

All roads leading to Banatski Sokolac have already been clogged with traffic in the early evening hours on Friday August 24th. That suggested this year’s Rock Village would be  rock manifestation in Serbia with the largest number of visitors, for a reason, for sure, because we had as our guests the greatest Serbian band - Riblja Čorba. Warming up started with the kids of Santos Brother Band from Bačka Palanka, who altogether have 48 years. A bit older guys from Anima (Kikinda) used the opportunity to present their music at the Rock Village.  Dragan was next and his great music, quite uncommon for this type of festival, yet he still gained attention of some visitors and fans. Forever Storm, youth band from Kragujevac, both singers and songwriters, presented their good quality music. Midnight was near, when at once Ritam Nereda took over. They shared their positive energy with the audience and heated up already hot atmosphere. Fantastic. Beer was slowly running out as we were getting closer to Riblja Čorba show. Energetic Bora Corba began at full blast and for the entire two and a half hours played and sang along with exhilarated audience. Greatest hits followed one another, hits of the band who gathered here at the Rock Village the audience aged 7 to 77, and they all sang together. Exactly as famous Mile Rocker from Bačka Palanka said: "Mates, this is better than Belgrade Arena".
It was a difficult task to have as much fun on Saturday as we did on Friday night, but still, we had some fine bands playing that night who took care of that. Sheitans reminded us with their good sound of Partibrejkers. After them, Italians from Fitzsimmons entered the stage and won the audience with their powerful performance. Perhaps some of you do not prefer hard core, yet the energy they shared with us made us grow to like them.  BandX, Belgrade AC/DC tribute band, was joy to all the fans of the group. Alogija from Smederevo obtained new admirers with excellent stage performance and music. Guys really do sound magnificent, and they are certainly one of the leading Serbian bands. Third time at the Rock Village, adored by the audience, Irina & Storm went on stage and took over from Alogija. Although they played on Friday on a festival in Zenica, they found no problem in getting packed to arrive soon to Banatski Sokolac in the afternoon hours. They played songs from their latest album, with a couple of covers, and rewarded us with their version of Hush. They added to already good atmosphere which made the fans ready to listen to the next performer - Van Gogh. Djule and his mates began at full speed, played well and some time around 4 a.m. closed this year’s Rock Village. The audience had a chance to enjoy the greatest hits of this cult band. Van Gogh are another band, besides Riblja Čorba, who managed to make Arena full at the concert, and this year they both played at the Rock Village. Who is next to come....!?
