Saturday, August 23rd – Dubioza Kolektiv after Arena at Rock Village!

Napunili ste Beogradsku Arenu, najvecu halu u Srbiji!

Vjerovatno nema osobe koju u jednom momentu nije zakačila njegova muzika. Mi u Mostaru imamo statuu Bruce Lee-a, a vi Bob-a.

The Rock Village audience will have a special opportunity this year to hear and see the biggest Balkan attraction – Dubioza Kolektiv. In an exclusive interview for our portal, guys from the band have commented on this, in many ways, a unique visit.

When did you first hear about Rock Village Festival?

DK: We first heard about Rock Village 5 or 6 years ago, when the monument to Bob Marley was erected.

How do you see your performance at the Rock Village and do you think of it, in a way, as a treat?

DK: Well, so far we have always had great hosts whenever we played in Vojvodina, so the treats in that respect are guarranted. We urge the organizers to take care of us with poppy seed strudel, we won’t mind if we perform on stage with black between teeth.

How important to you is to meet the audience from small towns who rarely have the opportunity to attend such events?

DK: It’s nice when people who do not live in big cities have the opportunity to attend music events in their own neighborhood. We have played in towns smaller than Banatski Sokolac. A few years ago, we were at the festival on a Norwegian island, in a place that has 21 residents. Gigs in such places are often charged with specific energy.

What can the audience expect from your show?

DK: We’ll make sure we play all of our unique, timeless hits, as well as some tracks that will become rock’n’roll evergreen.

You’ve filled Belgrade Arena, the largest hall in Serbia! How does it feel, to perform in one of the smallest of the ex-Yugoslavia after that?

DK: We do not discriminate festivals, clubs and gyms by size. Every time we try to do our best at concerts, regardless of whether the audience is made of 10 or 10,000 people …

How important is the music of Bob Marley in your life and career (this question is related to the statue of Bob Marley, which was built within the Rock Village Festival in 2008)?

DK: Bob Marley is good. There is probably no person who, at one point, wasn’t caught by his music. We have a statue of Bruce Lee in Mostar, and you of Bob. These statues are better from many statues of various bigheads who played the greats in the history of the Balkans.

Can the audience expect some special guests at your performance?

DK: We have an open agreement with our friends with whom we work together. Everyone is invited to each concert. It often happens that some people approach us with interesting suggestions such as: “I play the lip harmonica can I fly in somewhere?”. Almost all are invited, but often because of excessive amounts of alcohol a guest, or guests, however, decide to skip the performance…

Have you ever played in Vojvodina/Banat and do you plan to have another concert in Serbia?

DK: We played in Ruski Krstur and Tomasevac last year and it’s a real pleasure for us to play in these small towns in Vojvodina.

For a couple of years, we have had a guy from Vojvodina in the band. Our sax maestro, Mario Ševarac, is from Sombor, so that one-eighth of Dubioza is a local band in Vojvodina.
